I spent a little time yesterday and today hacking together a kml file to view everyone's flight path in Google Earth. The kml file has a network link in it so I can update the flight path as legs are finished. You can get the kml here www.sim-outhouse.net/documents/rtwrkmz/bprl/bprl.kml Just save it to "My Places" in Google Earth. The network link will refresh every time you open Google Earth or you can manually refresh it. Here is the start as of now. and the first landing Now that it is setup updating the progress should be fairly easy. Dave

Great idea, Dave! And very convenient! But I think you'll have to convert the altitudes from the TSV file into meters first, otherwise Google Earth is gonna interpret them incorrectly — and we'll all look like we're taking off into the stratosphere...

Outstanding ! That's great. I was downloadingthe KML into GE individually, but that's so much more convenient (and you're cleaning up the faulty tracks ). Thanks !

I am not downloading the TSV or KML file.
I am pulling the data directly from the Duenna text file.
I just strip out the date, VS, GS, KIAS and the OnGround fields. Of course then you have to reverse the Lat and Long but really its not that hard to do.
Of course I could just strip out the coordinates from the downloadable KML from the Duenna site but the "Download as: TSV/XML" field no longer works. I did not even think to check the KML under Replay in Google Earth. I just assumed those links no longer worked as well.

Yeah, I guess I should've known that it was the log file, as it only puts segments where there are significant changes in the path. But anyway, the log file also uses feet for elevation, so if you're doing some conversion anyway it might a good idea to switch them to meters. Also, while the "Download as: TSV / XML" option seems to be broken on the Duenna site, you can still download a full TSV or KML file from the "Get full TSV / KML / Maps" option. It's a bit hidden (with the scrollbar) at the bottom of the right section (below the "Download as..." line), so it's easy to overlook. But those work pretty reliably. Oh, and my name is spelled with a "Z" — you got me listed as "Kronsky"...

Well crap and I even came back here to get the proper spelling because I was not sure and I still mucked it up. That one is fixed I still need to do the conversion which I will do later tonight. I really rather hope the weather clears out here soon. Its been nasty or bad IRL since last week but not as bad as FS has been producing.

Looks like the "Get Full kml" is created by the Real time position feed in the duenna options. It gathers more data then Duenna records in the flight log.
Paul apparently does not have it turned on so I need to come up with a process for converting the duenna track which should not be hard.
Bushflyers real time position feed is just hosed up. Its like a spiders web over the ground. I will have to convert his as well.

Seems to work pretty well by now. And I didn't realize first that it actually is supposed to show not just this, but even future races! Since a lot of users will probably find that pretty useful, I've added it to Teson's thread with the aircraft & scoring information, and make the whole thing sticky. As far as Bushflyers spiderlegs are concerned — that seems to happen on most of his flights, and I guess the only workaround for it would be to use the log file, instead of the KML file. You could of course do some filtering, and remove those erratic legs, but I don't know if that's worth the hassle — just the main segments from the log file should be enough.
