I have tested the .air and aircraft.cfg of the FS9 Carenado C185F Tundra you have sent. 155 kts, like the FSX one.
I have added the FS9 C185F Tundra to the aircraft list at 155 kts (like the FSX version). AID# 3D1
I'd say just go ahead to submit your entry with that AID and fly the race track.
The low level flight to Stewart is a perfect test of flight speed. So that will be an ideal cross-check whether the flight speed needs further review.

Thanks for the green light Teson, I went ahead and registered the 185 as you advised.
Leaving Prince Rupert, en route to Stewart.

Finished that flight. Green Duenna, as posted in the thread here. Some vitals from that flight txt. Maybe they will help out: Enroute: Aircraft: [P1] C185F SKYWAGON TUNDRA ATC Type/Model: Cessna / C185 Air-File: C185.air / 16/03/2010 / 8.4 kB Aircraft-Reference: Vne=189KIAS, Vcruise=147KTAS, Mmo=M0.000, Empty weight=1700.0 lbs Autopilot/Autothrottle: 1 / 0 Max./Avg. Groundspeed: 160.8 kts / 137.3 kts Max. IAS: 161.6 kts Average IAS: 144.2 kts Average Head/Tailwind: +2.6 kts Max. altitude: 803 ft Avg. altitude AGL: 573.0 ft Roll count: 0 Time spent inverted: 00:00:00 Flight aborted: no Time in overspeed: 0.0 secs. Error count: 0 Valid: VALIDATED Sounds about right. I think I barely touched 180 mph a couple of times. I tried to keep it at 160 kts or less -safely in the yellow, but no where near redlining it. Hope this helps, thanks.

It looks like the "Cessna 185 Skywagon (Bernt Stolle FDE)" may have gotten the wrong max speed. (Perhaps the same thing happened as I had experienced, where planes all of a sudden were slower than they're supposed to be.) I don't have that plane, but I tested the config files I got from a friend, and consistently got speeds over 150kts (not like the 142kts listed in the chart), and if you look at avian's 1st flight — he's easily reaching 150 over flat terrain (with hardly any tailwind), so something seems to be wrong in the classification.

I think the 142 kts speed is right. The high speeds seem to be due to pretty strong tailwinds he experienced. His indicated speed (independent of wind) is about 142 KIAS. True air speed will be almost the same as he has flown at 200-500 ft. KIADS Attachments:

Yes, the last three flights my average GS (meaning what it says on the GPS each time I check) has been 138 to 140 knots, this was with a 6-17 knot cross wind which was pretty much at right angles to the direction of flight, so it had little impact. The faster speeds were due to a reasonable tailwind.

Ok, mystery solved... It looks like there are several Stolle patches floating around (on several addon sites, as well as on the Carenado one). In addition, Carenado, of course, made several variations and patches to the 185. So, finding the right combination was the tricky part. I finally got the right patch (I used the one from the Bushpounder site), and applied it to the FSX Bush version of the 185. And with that combination I was able to match the nominal speeds from the spreadsheet. But that, of course, brings up the question - what if I had participated with the wrong combination? With so many variations being available (especially for the Carenado planes), how can we ensure that everybody uses the correct ones? Perhaps we should have some "BPRL-approved" air & cfg files available for download, to make the whole process a bit easier and less error-prone. But then again — who knows if we're gonna keep the handicap system after all (since it still looks like it's gonna be the same planes winning all the time), so this whole discussion may be moot...

Make/Model? Piper Variant? PA-18 Super Cub - Ultra - Passenger Version - Tundra Tires Sim (FSX or FS9)? - FSX Free or Pay? - Pay Maximum Cruise Speed? - 105 KTAS Download URL - www.flight-replicas.com/SuperCubUltrapkg.htmNote the Flight Replicas Super Cub Ultra does not have an autopilot. I hand flew it to get those results.

Hi there, welcome to the league, and thanks for your testing! Since there are so many planes in that Flight Replica package, could you tell me if it's the 150hp model, or one of the higher powered ones? Or, if you're familiar with the aircraft.cfg, which .air file is it using (e.g. is it "sim=FR_PA-18T_160_FSX")? Thanks, and hope you'll be having fun!

Thanks for the further tests, and I've added the plane to the approved aircraft list. The aircraft ID for it is 12A1, so you can go ahead now, and register for the race, if you're ready!

Hi Paul, and welcome back! I've added the FSAddon Piper to the list (it's ID# 23A1), but just to confirm — you've tested (and are flying) the regular tires version, or the Tundra tires?

- Piper J-3 Cub - FSX - A2A - Payware - Tundra with accusim - 69 KTAS @ 2000 ft ested with 2 gal fuel and 4 lbs oil fuel as engine will quit if fuel tanks are empty, even with FS realism settings set to unlimited fuel. Other weights (pilot) set to zero. The aircraft was already in the aircraft list - have just measured Vne (and added to the spreadsheet). I'll try out FSX for this course. Let's see if it's a slideshow, but with the slow flight speed I hope it will work out ok. The accusim cub seemed like a nice first PW plane to get. Let's see how it fares for this race. Probably the less than stellar climb performance will bite me ...
