Leg 1 Low clouds from Talkeetna turned into patches of fog at Nugget Bench, completely obscuring the airport. I didn't see the runway on the first pass despite passing within 1000 ft. Had to turn around and search for it. So much for the race part ... but it is always interesting and instructive when things don't work out according to the plan. fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?flight=rS5Ux3xwED7NEaOLH7B2lmHLxAc

Leg 2a Rescue fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?flight=t2Emti2N6viK0N1VmgsfcTuPQOn the loooong climb to 15000 ft, looking up to the snow ledge to land on. While at 7000 ft the climb rate, flying close to Vx, was a whooping 800 fpm, it dropped to a mere 200-300 fpm at 14000 ft... That ledge looks mighty steep. Flying around the "triangular pyramid". Coming down. Tried to smoothen the touchdown with a burst of power, but there still was quite a bump. I'm just happy crevasses are not modeled in FS.

Leg 5 fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?flight=h2jo4Bc5xkHJhcgc8LQlqhjRqlAThe flight goes down the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier... ... on towards Talkeetna ... ... and ends with a Valdez style short field landing, trying to touch down at the runway threshold and stop as fast as possible. Stopped 500 ft from the runway threshold. Not really a match for the Valdez STOL competition pilots Note: I aborted a first attempt on which I noticed that I had forgot to load the weather after take-off.
