My unofficial logbook for the next "event", the BPRL Idaho Lakes Reverse Event...
My apologies for being away from the route the past week.
I was really getting into it while leaving Denali, and then all of a sudden my FSX goes south...
I did manage to get the first two legs in on my main pc.
I've began, starting with a flight from PATK Talkeetna to 021D Morgan Ranch Idaho -flying right to the next event.
I went with the CS FS9 C130, Canadian AF livery. I might be doing a lot more flights in FS9 for now, being I'm in the process of trying to fix FSX on my main flying pc and issues I am having with it now.
I do have FSX and FS9 on my laptop, and I run Razer GameBooster when on it. FSX runs slow on my laptop (even with the Razer), but FS9 runs pretty good on the old laptop, about 19.9 FPS -it's locked by choice at 20 default.
The repair (and possible reinstalling FSX) process is taking serious time -not mentioning getting my addon stuff copied beforehand just in case a potential FSX reinstall wants to mess with my payware goodies...
Now to make things worse, my laptop will not run the CS C130 expansion packs. They show up, but I'm convinced these are demo versions only.
The CL130 float plane does fly (with no VC or cockpit gauges in it) and CS isn't offering any help on a ticket I submitted a week ago.
Upon further reading into their forums, they (meaning CS) admit they do not support FS9 and Windows 7 both together.
They don't tell you that when you look to buy it. And it's probably why they are ignoring my ticket request imo...
Someone needs to tell the FS community about this VERY LOUDLY...
In other words, caveat emptor...I learned the hard way...
So I've decided to try Kronzky's route and go with a default FS9 DC-3 if I fly on the laptop. This will be different, because I never done much flying with the DC3 on FSX or FS9.
Got all of that? lol...Anyhow, onward we go:

Taking off from PATK. Nice wx.
I didn't bother to look at the time when scheduling a 1600 nm flight. This will come to bite me in the butt later:
Cruising along. Great scenery:
Clouds were with me most of the way, unless I went to 20k and above:
Now the darkness is rolling in. Even on a decent pc, flying in these parts gets pretty dark:
The only glimpse of light here is when you fly over a city.
In the boondocks, you can barely see any road, and you can't even see the UT light posts from this high up -then Morgan Ranch is like RIGHT THERE...
At Lewiston Nez Perce and KLWS, about 80 or so miles out from Morgan Ranch, buzzing right along:
The end result wasn't good. Came into the runway too hot. I should have considered a go-around, but it was very dark, and I probably would have went into the side of a mountain anyways.
I didn't get a pic, I was too busy picking pine needles from my backside...lol
Down at Morgan Ranch. Not green in one piece, but down anyways.
Something tells me I might have to land at close alternate airports a lot in this month's reverse event...lol
Time to move on.
