Yeah, that sounds like an acceptable test. I'm not sure the Katana fits into the "bush plane" category, but I guess it's as much of a fit as the Cessna 152/172/182 series planes.
If you can get the test numbers together soon enough that I can give it an aircraft ID number and still have time to complete the course in April, you should be good to go.

Ok.. done the test! it gave me 124knots GS but for sure I won't be able to maintain that thrust. I have a disadvantage with this airplane (as the users of the A2A have also) If I apply full throttle all the time I will break the engine. That will give me less points, BUT I will enjoy more taking care of my plane. Why is not considered a bush plane? Because the landing gears? Well of course It will be hard to land in sand beaches, or offroad (well that in FSX is something not simulated well..) That's why I chose the "without wheel fairings" version. Becasue I could damage them (it is simulated that failure also ). One question! I see two routes. I suppose the routes I can see are the ones that are elegible for the current month, isn't it? But the first one says something like practice. What is that for? enjoy? is necesary to do it? The good one is the below one? Can we make twice a route and choose the best time? Thanks! Waiting for that ID Number if is approved!

The Katana has been added... AID#21A1 (I think).
Answers: - The Skagit Regional Practice Course is there for you to practice running these races. It is not mandatory. However, if you're not familiar with using the FS Duenna client, I would suggest going around the practice course once or twice. Basically, when you use the Duenna, it uploads your results to the Duenna website... if you "practice" on the live course, your results will be sent to the live course website, so you would be timed on the live course with your practice numbers.
The second route (Cascade 150) is the April race course. There will be another course added each month. Once the 30th of April passes, you cannot run the Cascade course (for points anyway).
No, you cannot "Take the best time" from multiple attempts. That's the main reason why I'd prefer to use the upload site's verification data, rather than posting your results. You get 1 shot at the course. If you crash on any leg, simply start from the next leg. Your crashed leg time will be equal to the slowest successfully completed leg time (of the other racers) plus 1 minute.

2 problems I have now.
1. The Duanna ask me to turn on collisions and damage. I go to the menu of realism and set them but when in the plane, they deactivate. Exit FSX and the same. I don't know why I cannot turn on collisions now! (ok.. found... and publish solution. This is to all of the people that have TacPack activated)
2. About the weather. I can use the 15min default one. Thought I could use OpusFSX but I guess we have to have same weather.. but because we fly different days.. is there a posibility to do it with OpusFSX instead the internal one?
I have a problem here. Even with real weather option on, checked download of winds aloft and turbulences uncheked it doesn't let me. Says that REal-WX is in yellow...
Thanks!
Pd: During races can we pause the sim? I have a son and wife, and you know what is this....

There is no way to set green the Real-WX. Alwasy is yellow. All the conditions asked are as said.. and I have searched internet for solutions and seems that in FSX duenna look for the [weather] type to be 3 instead of 0 of the previous flight.FLT saved flight. I have saved, changed with note pad... followed these instructions: www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?221233-Problems-with-Duenna-131-softwareand nothing. My question is.. If I cannot change this parameter to green.. Can I still race and be good? In that case I would use the OPusFSX is there is no problem. If not.. and there is no solution, I won't be able to join the race.

While I have used the Duenna quite extensively I have never had a problem, so I can't help a lot. Few suggestions:
Try it with another plane, e.g. With the default C172SP to check whether the issue is due to the Katana. Load the default flight.0 Set weather to default Jeppesen with updates (don't start Opus) and other parameters relevant for Duenna. Save the flight. Exit the flight Shut down FS. Restart FS Reload the saved flight Start Duenna
If Duenna is not all green troubbleshoot with the default plane until Duenna is green, exiting and restarting FS between each try.
If everything is green with the default plane switch to the Katana or srart Opus.
If nothing works you could also do a short test flight. This will create a Duenna log on the Duenna site. We could then look into the .txt file in there - it has plenty of informations on the settings. Maybe one of these gives a hint what's wrong.
Btw. There shouldn't be an issue to pause the plane for urgent matters. Duenna uses real time, not FS time to calculate "flight time". So the clock keeps ticking on when you pause the sim. That should be enough incentive to keep the pit stops short.
Yes, you will likely be disadvantaged flying a plane with complex engine system modeling. You can try out if the engine really blows up at full throttle within the max 20 min the BLRL flights take. I don't know the Katana, but if CHT is critical maybe you may be able to keep the engine cooler by enriching the mixture or opening the cowl flaps if available. Being normally aspirated the engine will not be able to provide more then normal cruise power above an altitude of e few 1000 ft anyway, so only the low legs might be critical. It may be an interesting challenge to coax the maximum performance out of the plane without blowing the engine up. (You'll probably have to repair it after each flight. And if you really have to throttle back to normal cruise just be along for the fun, without competitiveness, and enjoy the flights and your plane. The flights are plenty interesting to be flown on their own.

Ok.. I have done everything you say with the default cessna (I did almost the same before..) and nothing And I think I am not the only one as shown in the post I linked before, from 3 years ago. I have made the first practive leg (KBVS-WA56) with the katana and the weather option in yellow. This file I attach in the one with the real time every 15minutes option in fsx weather and download upper winds on.... Attachments:

...This other txt file is the same flight, but this time OpusFSX weather. As you can see in both this line: Info: Previous Flight.FLT/Weather/WeatherType: '0' (NOT GOOD) is 0, where I set the Previus Flight.FLT to 3. with note pad, and also saving it and checking that is 3 the number. Even saving my default flight (that is with the default cessna) with that line as: [Weather] WeatherType=3 So.. don't know where is comming the 0 number. In this second one I made less time because I already knew where I had to land. Well.. please tell me if this one is valid, because my intention would be to try to fly it with OpusFSX if it is possible. (much better than the default weather. Thanks! Attachments:

If you peruse the forums here, you will certainly see that I have had many problems with other issues with Duenna, so maybe I shouldn't be putting my 2 cents in here. But it seems you have nothing to lose at this point: First things first: I'll bet FS9 never gives you yellow box problems, right? (just a guess on my part... : Anyways, I too had the 'yellow boxes' problem when starting FSX with all the recommended settings as in the BPRL League Charter and Racing Rules link. It took experimenting to finally get one setting that got all the boxes to go green. For the record, the settings prescribed in the League Charter and Racing Rules link always worked with out ANY TWEAKING of the settings WHATSOEVER for FS9 -always get green boxes there. I had to check one of the boxes to get it to work right, can't remember if it was the 'pilot controls lights' or 'display tips' or something goofy like that (I know, it doesn't make sense...), but that's what it took for me to get all the boxes green in FSX Duenna. As someone stated here previously, Duenna could use a serious update... One thing to keep in mind (which it sounds as you know well enough already...): FSX runs different on EVERYONE'S machine no matter how fancy or fast the pc is, and no matter how many 'experts' out there tell you different. That's why you have to take anything that concerns FSX with a grain of salt. Definitely not so much with FS9, it's more bullet-proof imo... My green FSX settings in screenshot form are below. If they can help you out any bit, great. From what I can see, you're not getting these lines in your txt file: Info: Weather/DownloadWindsAloft: '1' (OK) Info: Weather/DisableTurbulence: '0' (OK) but you're getting the 'not good' line: Info: Previous Flight.FLT/Weather/WeatherType: '0' (NOT GOOD) I'm not so sure if Opus is causing the problems. I'm running REX in both FS9 and FSX. It's always running in the background in FS9 and FSX, and I never shut them off, being I'm in agreement with you about Microsoft's default weather. Here's my last FSX flight txt here, it was all good except for the crash. All necessary info is there: Running REX, no probs whatsoever. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the addon weather engine. If I can get REX to run OK, you shouldn't be having probs with Opus imho. Those settings screenies: Try duplicating my settings, see if it helps. It can't hurt. Good luck.

One thing that (I don't think) I saw mentioned: get your flight all set up... sitting on the runway, your weather set correctly, all of your realism set correctly. Save your flight. Then, shut down FSX (and the duenna). Then, open FSX and load up your saved flight. Then start the duenna.
This has successfully cleared the weather=yellow situation for me.

Then, shut down FSX (and the duenna). Then, open FSX and load up your saved flight. Then start the duenna. This has successfully cleared the weather=yellow situation for me. Well.. as said, I have done that several times already, with the default Cessna to see if it was a problem with the Katana plane. No luck. Yes.. 1. I start my default flight that is with 15minutes real weather, cessna with everything shutdown. 2. once loaded I do these 3 things to test different options: 2a: save the file as muenna1. 2b: choose again the 15min real weather and once back in teh sim save file as muenna2. 2c: Reset the flight and save as muenna3. 3. close the flight, close fsx. 4. load back fsx. in the free flight, load muenna1 or muenna2 or muenna3. 5. once in platform with engines stopped and the cessna loaded from those flights I do these three things which each file: 5a: just start muenna. Yellow in weather 5b: load again the 15min real weather and start muenna. yellow 5c: reset the flight and start muenna. Yellow. Anything I do about this is yellow, yellow and yellow. The Previous flight file has a 3 in the weathertype option. My default flight has a 3 in the weather type option.. I made Previous flight file as default and the same. I have all the options like bushflier has... if it doesn't show that I apply winds aloft and not disable turbulences is maybe because because first don't find the number 3 in the previous flight so thinks I am not using the real weather, when I do. I sent 2 files.. The first one is without OpusFSX. Didn't connect it. The second one was with OpusFSX so without real15min weather. Of course in the second one is expected a yellow flag.. but not in the first one. The only different with the settings of bushflyer are the realism.. where I have the total realism full right and indicated speed instead true one, aswell as don't enable automixture.. etc. See that you have aceleration as I do.... So I don't know what to do more. If it is a mandatory to have that green flight in weather, then I think I won't be able to fly the race. I will try to fix it if I think in something more.. but seems this problem is an old one, and I am not the only user with this issue... As said, every pc is a misterious thing... and what is working for someone, for other may not work. Following the post I linked is demostrated that people that did almost same things you tell me, didn't fix the problem... will search more. Maybe is an stupid thing that is hidden for now. Thanks for the deep explanations.

I must check the rules again to be sure but I thought i read that real weather was not mandatory.
That made sense to me at the time since we will all be flying at different times and days and therefore the 'clear all weather' option was the fair one for everyone.
EDIT. I am wrong. Real Wx IS a requirement. apologies.
Besides that, a big welcome to all the guys that have signed on in the last two weeks. We are getting some good numbers here now that are already making this event a success.
And another big thanks for you guys that put in all the effort to make this event happen. I am sure you are pleased with the response so far. You've done really well with the course design and routing/rules that go with it. \m/

Ok.. then I cannot join you, unless I can fix it.. but yesterday I was several hours with the problem and reading a lot about it. Seems difficult one. I could use real weather, but provided by OpusFSX or even FSX.. but there is no way to prove it. Seems the program needs some fixes, but the creator left it years ago... A shame. Thanks for the help. For anyone having the same problem. Here is a guy that had the same problem like me and didn't resolve it. Maybe you have more luck: www.flightsim.com/vbfs/archive/index.php/t-221233.html

Maybe you have more luck: www.flightsim.com/vbfs/archive/index.php/t-221233.htmlMy apologies for being so adamant in helping you out. But as someone who's still having issues (somewhat) with Duenna, I hate to see you put all the hours into the Duenna here with nothing to show for it. In short, I'm just posting ideas up as to hopefully get one to work. Throwing mud against the wall here, that's all... So here's more ideas( : : try doing a complete reinstall of the Duenna, although I'm not sure if it will help or not. I did that myself. If it helped me doing so, I'm not sure. I still get my duplicate flight tracking listings, but never had that weather thing to bug me. I simply gave up on trying to get rid of the duplicates. If these guys can live with it, so can I. It sux that we can't get this wx thing figured out for you though... One thing I never did was edit any weather (3)'s in Duenna with Notepad (although I see many in other forums did have to go that route, as you pointed out). I figured if it worked, great. If not, I wasn't about to edit anything and just abandon Duenna altogether and not do any flight racing anywhere. I never did though abandon anything, being I'm too dam stubborn... Try the reinstall and don't edit anything. See what happens. Can you do a complete reinstall of the Opus? Maybe try that, if it's not too much hassle to do so -although if the creator of it isn't around if something messes up on reinstall, maybe that's not such a great idea... I'm on W7 64 bit now. I never ran Duenna on a XP, and I don't have W8. If your on W7, try running UAC or not running UAC. At this point, you can pretty much try anything without recourse -being nothing's working weather-wise anyways.

Hi BushFlyer, Thanks for the extense help! Well.. I did all of that before reading you. I found other post with other people in Avsim with problems like mine. Post the link in case someone find the same problems to give more ideas: forum.avsim.net/topic/360971-fsx-real-world-weather/you can find me at the end of the post saying that I wasn't lucky. In resume deleted the fsx.cfg, deleted the Previous Flight.FLT. Of course don't use OPUSFSX (it won't do anything if you don't load it), made a 25 minutes flight with the cessna letting change the weather for those 15minutes.... Reinstal duenna in the default folder it ask for. Nothing.. not success... But Duenna is a program that can anyone cheat. If you read all the posts, the way to fix it is make a saved flight that will go through Duenna all green and then change things. Even People put AS or REX weather and is going ok. Even I just for testing removed the collision once loaded the file I saved for duenna.. and it gave me green for the reality one (collisions, while I had it deactivated). The only thing I didn't test it... is that someone send me a file saved (they are 3 files), and try with that one. I guess Duenna don't look the options that people has already set. Even you change them when you have red.. it don't let you go. It look something saved once you exit FSX. Could be the Previous Flight.FLT but I deleted it to let it create again... Nothing... Deleted the FSX.cfg.. nothing.. Maybe is FSUIPC that interfere with weather.... Don't know.. just this start to be stupid. I am good solving computer problems but this is just frustrating. Just wanted to make some races and have fun.... Anyway... Thanks!
