Nice run, and nice pictures! (I think I gotta get me some screenshot program, too, so I can take some decent pictures as well. What is everyone using for taking shots? EZDoc? Or what's good?)
Oh, and I guess you switched planes, Paul (from the FSX Piper PA-18 Super Cub, ID 23a1, to the FSX Piper PA-20 Pacer, ID 13b1)? Make sure you register, so I have the correct plane ID!

Thanks Kris, Upon registering for a race, should my name appear immediately, or does somebody have to take some action first? I thought I did register, but didn't see my name on the board, although I do see it now. For FSX screen shots I just use the V key. The bitmaps accumulate in your "Pictures/My Pictures/Flight Simulator X" folder. For FS9 I use FSScreen, which is a nice (free) small program that works great. You can find it here: www.flightsimworld.com/downloads/viewfile/1058.htmlI re-size them using Paint Shop Pro which I've had for a long time, but there are many free image processing programs out there. - Paul

That's why sometimes it may take a while for a registration or race result to show up. But either Teson or I will enter the results, so the delay shouldn't be too long. I can do "regular" screenshots ok, but I was wondering whether you (or others) are also using different programs that allow them to move to different positions when taking shots, as just the regular FSX views are fairly limited.

I understand you're not looking for a screenshot program, but rather how to place the camera for interesting screenshots (knowing you, probably you've written your own screenshot program with full control of FS viewpoint by now ). I'm mentioning my screenshot program nevertheless. I use Snapper www.michielovertoom.com/software/snapper/I like its functionality to save the screenshot half size, and to add the aircraft location to the screen (I haven't tested it in FSX yet). As you know I'm currently trying out moving from FS9 to FSX. So far I have edited the spot view camera configuration in the camera.cfg (in the same folder as FSX.cfg) to allow free movement of the camera in spot view by pan and view point key controls. Details in the camera SDK: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526984.aspxWorks ok so far (but there's probably an easier way).

I didn't realize FSX allowed totally free camera movement, and thought that's why people are buying all these third party camera/screenshot programs! Well, your method certainly sounds easy enough for me, so I'll give that a try tonight. Beware of my upcoming screenshot flood!!! ( Sorry Paul, for hijacking your thread...)

Oh! That easy?! And that cheap?! I was first disappointed as well when I discovered the fixed views in FSX (worse IMHO than FS9). But delighted when I discovered these can be freely configured to a level much better than FS9.

WhooHoo. Made it down to CBB7. And a load of fun it was too. Had to circle around once to get high enough to clear the 8000 foot ridge, then it was chop the power and glide down the steep canyon sides and into the valley. And then the weather closed it too. Good stuff. I did make an effort to claim the short landing run prize. No idea where I'll end up, but I thought I did ok. fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?detail=flight&value=Tw5oJxWagRxtTLmliJycjpumhwg

Well, I tried twice to get out of CBB7 and failed twice. In the first I aborted soon after takeoff because I didn't have the weather set properly. In the second I overstressed and crashed while descending from the pass into the valley where the destination is. Does this use up my two tries?
