Leg 2 done. This one was fun. The weather was definitely "stinko" upon taking off from Cascade Locks, and especially during the climb out and approach to the BIG MOUNTAIN to the south. I was planning on getting as high as possible (8999 FT) in order to make the circle as small as possible, but the clouds were much lower then that, foiling an otherwise brilliant plan. But, the clouds parted just before I got there, allowing for an 8000 FT circle. Not too bad. fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?detail=flight&value=KC9bF2BAS426mkm6KvJiFdYjACw

Here's a couple of kodaks of Leg 2, during the approach to Mt. Hood. It was quite a pretty flight. Getting ready for Leg 3 now.

Leg 3 in the log book. That one was fun! I think I have a couple of pine needles wrapped around the main gear struts. And I'm glad I took off from 66WA and surveyed the local area before making this leg officially. This place is hard to find with that PNW scenery installed. But I had all my visual land marks all ready. "ok, there's the turn in the river, ok, there's the road..." Even with the GPS it's hard to see. fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?detail=flight&value=2WxIMQXgJcq4oPy2JNZETHce0- Paul

Well, I blew Leg 4. Crashed into a giant pine tree. It just jumped out in front of me at the last second.

You didn't fly around Mt. Adams as per the routing. Are you referring to his Duenna graphic for Leg 2? I noticed on a couple of my test runs that the duenna sometimes would not log the "terrain following" very well, and would instead look like a straight line between a couple of points. Not sure what causes those occasional "lack on enroute data" flights. This might be that?

As I said - Duenna is watching you. Attachments:

Oh crap. Not only did I crash trying to land at the lake, but I forgot to fly around Mt. Adams first. I did fly around Mt. Adams on my practice flight, and at the end of that one I didn't crash. Should have "recorded" that one on duenna.

Thanks for sharing. Nice graphics you have too. I must check so don't quote me but I don't think you must fly with real weather and you can set autogen to normal which will rid you of a few pesky trees on approach.

Hi Paul, if I understand the rules right a crash doesn't eliminate from the event. You can still fly leg 5. Same to you, bushflyer.
You'll just get the longest flight time of any pilot on leg 4 + 1 minute attributed for that leg as far as I understand.

Correct understanding. Start from the spot where you crashed, and begin leg #5. Your time for leg 4 will be calculated at the end of the month, and will be equal to the longest successful leg-4 flight time + 1 minute.

Rgr the rule clarification. I will complete the route, just got a little discouraged at my stupidity for a day, then got busy with other things. Thanks all!
